Did you know you could have a memorable concert in your own home? Have you ever been to a concert that one of your friends put on at their house and noticed what a great time their guests had? Do you have a friend, a family member, or a company that might be interested in hosting a concert and has the perfect space to do it in?
The best thing about salon concerts is that I get to connect with the audience in a very special way--not just through the music, but through stories about the music, the composers, and some funny things that have happened to me along the way.
The music: Salon concert music selections are from the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern periods. The music is different from what I perform in churches.
The details: When I come to your living room to play a salon (house) concert, I perform two full sets of music with an intermission and then stick around after the concert to sign books and CDs, and get to know everyone better. All I need from you is to gather at least 25 of your friends, family, and co-workers together at your house for fun and entertaning afternoon or evening.
The concert fee: Each audience member donates $15 to $25 for the performance. There must be a minimum of 25 guaranteed guests at $20 per person.
What a salon concert event looks like:
5:00 pm - We meet and greet.
5:30 pm - I set up my performance area, and P.A. if needed.
7:00 pm - I disappear into a back room to tune up, prepare for the concert
7:00 pm - The audience arrives (socializing time)
8:00 pm - You make a witty introduction (I provide that for you) and I play the first set.
8:45 pm - Intermission
9:00 pm - Second set (with encores!)
9:45pm - I sign books and CDs and we all meet and mingle
Note: Due to book and recording project schedules/commitments, I don't begin the salon concert season until March 1 each year and usually book the last salon concert in early October as I prepare music for Thanksgiving and Christmas performances at churches around the country.
